Mural Banner Sutri
The Banner of Eugene Agneni - by the City of Sutri 25/11 / 2006 @ 12:04
The history of the banner
The processional banner is made of a canvas painted in oil on both sides, not dated, is attributed to Eugene Agneni.
The work depicts on the front, "St. Bonaventure has the Confraternity of the Virgin and Child with two brothers dressed in traditional dress, the background is the Cathedral of the Cimini mountains Sutri horizon. The reverse side depicts "The Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament."
It 's very likely that the banner has been ordered to seal the merger of the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament and the Holy Cross, which occurred in the early nineteenth century.
Now the processional banner returns to its ancient splendor thanks to the restoration proposed by the conservation laboratory of the province of Viterbo and the commitment of the municipal administration of Sutri.
The work is on display at the Museum of Patrimonium Sutri.
